Una vez más se entregaron los premios más importante a la industria de los videojuegos. The Games Awards es un clásico de cada año y todo el mundo, tanto jugadores como prensa especializada estuvieron pendiente de los grandes galardonados de la noche. El premio mayor fue para It Takes Two, elegido como juego del año.
Además de la premiación se aprovecho la velada para presentar trailers y gameplays de futuros lanzamientos. Entre los mas destacables se encuentran Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, StarWars: Eclipse, Wonder Woman y el anuncio de Alan Wake 2. Todos ellos generaron una gran expectativa entre los usuarios que llenaron las redes sociales con las repercusiones y reacciones de todo lo que se iba mostrando.
Además It Takes Two hubo otros ganadores que se llevaron más de un premio a su nombre. Forza Horizon 5 finalmente fue reconocido en tres categorías distintas, Deathloop, Final Fantasy XIV y Kena: Bridge of Spirits se llevaron dos cada uno. Este último fue reconocido como el juego indie del año.
